Finding Calm in the Chaos

Do you often feel frantic at work? Does your workday spill over into evenings and weekends? Do you feel bombarded with information, requests and deadlines? Shannon will help explain how an understanding of the human brain helps explain why we get distracted, have trouble prioritizing, and are so often left feeling overwhelmed. She'll provide techniques to manage the onslaught of information to get work done effectively and feel good while doing it.

Dr. Shannon Andrus is a writing trainer and coach with over 20 years of experience helping individuals improve their communication skills. She delivers high-energy and interactive virtual and in-person courses designed to help individuals strengthen composition and communication skills, improve professional interpersonal communication, and organize effectively for optimum performance. Shannon’s digital communication instruction focuses on communicating clearly and appropriately through email and using social media effectively in the professional world. Her time management and distraction courses help individuals maximize their productivity in a fast-paced business environment.

Shannon earned her B.A. in English Literature from Georgetown University, graduating with honors. She earned her master’s degree in liberal studies in the Great Books Program at St. John’s College and holds a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she taught courses in qualitative research and also worked as a research and writing coach. She is the co-author of Teaching Girls Well: How Teachers and Parents Can Reach Their Brains and Hearts.

Track 1 -- SYSTEMS
Track 2 -- KNOWLEDGE

Session 1:  Staff meetings that motive & engage - Shannon Andrus

This dynamic training course is designed to equip leaders with the skills and strategies needed to run meetings effectively, ensuring productivity, engagement, and meaningful outcomes. 

Session 2:  Behavior Incident Reporting (BIR) - Dawn Alexander

If you are looking for a way to know what challenging behaviors exist in your classrooms and what is taking place to drive or address those behaviors then this FREE data system will tell you everything you need to know!  Dawn will provide a demonstration so that you can see how easy it is to be in the know and to protect your program from allegations of discrimination, or inequitable service delivery.

Session 3:  Routines within Routines for Directors - Peggy Ferguson

Directors train their staff to have routines within their routines.  Peggy will talk with you about how Directors can do the same thing with their long list of  responsibilities so that they can ensure that everything gets done efficiently and effectively!

Session 4: Collaboration with CDEC - Mary Alice Cohen

Mary Alice is the Chief Program Officer at the Office of Program Delivery from CDEC.  She is going to share with everyone what is taking place at CDEC to enable programs to have successful outcomes.  She will speak about the collaborative work that CDEC and ECEA have accomplished together!

Session 1:  HR Legal Overviews with Laura Hazen

Join Laura as she covers the most recent HR changes that you need to be aware of for your company.  She does a great job of providing everyone with a better understanding of legal responsibilities as employers.

Session 2:  Understanding Business Insurance and Your Role in Controlling Costs - Maria Aucoin

Maria with CCIG will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of current shifts in the insurance industry.  She will help you to understand proactive steps you can take to control insurance costs going forward for your business.

Session 3:
Leadership with purpose-
Identifying strengths for the development of successful teams

- Denise Fletcher

Leadership is the ability to inspire and guide others towards a common goal, fostering a sense of purpose and unity. It involves effective communication, empathy, and the capacity to bring out the strengths in individuals to build a successful and cohesive team. Denise can provide valuable insights and practices to help you implement these principles in your school, creating an environment that nurtures both personal and collective growth.
