Know It to Grow It: Using the latest Brain Science to Boost language development through easy talk
9:45-11 a.m.

Research shows that back and forth interactions between adults and children play a significant role in early brain development. In this session, we will explore the latest early talk research and how to put it into practice to promote responsive caregiving and provide critical data that supports a diversity of early language environments. Conversational turns are such simple things -- just serve-and-return interactions between adults and children. But they're also very powerful. Over the past decade, peer-reviewed research studies have linked conversational turns to improved socioemotional development, executive functioning, reading skill, and brain development. The greater the quantity of turns, the better the child outcomes. In this session, I will share what we've learned about the importance of early talk, concrete strategies for increasing interactions, and how to use interactive talk to build positive adult-child relationships.

(Brene Brown: Dare To Lead)
Who we are is how we lead? There is no other way to say it. In a workforce that quietly quits and performs at the bare minimum, what is a leader to do? In today’s framework of the new work dynamics- authenticity, vulnerability and transparency is the brave work we must do to build the culture that allows tough conversations and mutual accountability. Let’s spend some time learning together about the tools and resources for daring leadership, about what we must own to become a leader that influences and how we implement these practices and processes in the workplace.
