Bill 2 - "Diversity In The Early Childhood Workforce" --Withdrawn

This bill, introduced by the Early Childhood and School Readiness Legislative Commission would create a pilot program to recruit, educate, train, and prepare high school students of color and low-income high school students to enter the early childhood educator workforce. The program will enable up to 10 eligible schools (30 students maximum) to participate in the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) program.


Who is eligible:

  1. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

  2. School must operate an on campus preschool program.

What the pilot provides students:

  1. The opportunity to earn concurrent enrollment credit.

  2. Participation in the program begins in 10th grade.

  3. Opportunity for community-based internships.

This bill was withdrawn on 11/1/21 by the sponsor at the Early Childhood and Readiness Commission meeting.
